This is an European inspired project. The bench converts into a table, two-seater bench, loveseat and chair with end-table. The bench is fairly heavy. You could make it lighter by hollowing out some of the center sections. You could do that by drilling holes in them. If you wanted to make it more comfortable you could add a layer of leather or dense foam to the sections. The material would need to be pretty durable though.
