I found this folding cedar lawn chair to be a fun easy project. It’s an one day project, so not too much of a time commitment. The chair folds up for easy storage during the winter. If the chair is going outside you should consider using a durable wood like Fir or Teak. For me the chair was comfortable to sit on and I am a fairly large guy. I treat my outdoor furniture with a UV resistant finish after each season. Alternatively you could build some kind of cover structure to protect from the sun and rain.
