Strong, Quick, Drawer Construction

Frequently you will find that in plans the writer gives you the dimensions for drawers, but doesn’t go into the details of how to make a drawer. They are assuming that you have a favorite way of doing it and that you will use that method. Generally the front of a drawer should be 3⁄4″ thick, the sides should be 1⁄2″ or 5⁄8″ thick, the bottom is 1⁄4″ thick (plywood if you want to save money) or 1⁄2″-thick (go thicker for larger drawers). If you want to make higher quality drawers go with all wood and dovetail joints, because they are the strongest joints.
