They use to keep flower, sugar and salt in these canisters. These days they are popular for keeping coffee and tea in. You can make the canisters as tall as you like. Changing the plans to make them fatter however is difficult.
You need to make sure that you use a food safe finish with this project. The finish they recommend has been renamed: wood bowl finish. It is however the same finish.
