The opening for this gate is out of square, because of a rock-faced wall that leans in. To make the new gate look better, he intentionally made a crooked gate.The idea being, to do it in such a way that no one realizes that the gate is crooked. This was done by drawing the eye to the details. He went for a very durable finish to deal with the Colorado climate. He used CPES followed by Epifanes. The gate is made from White Oak and I think it looks very good.
