Routers and shapers are the most common tools for creating molding. However if you want to cut a large cove, you either need a specific tool or you can use a table saw. You do need to take multiple passes when you do this. If you try and do it in one pass you will bend the blade or even break the table. If you increase the cutting blade thickness (2 10″ blade) the cut gets much easier and there is less blade vibration.
